Hi, my name is ANGEL and I'm nine years young. I love to go for car rides, but Iove stalking birds even more! You see, I used to have a home and a family, and we would go hunting together. When I got a touch of arthritis, my dad figured that I wasn't any good to him any more, so he took me to a shelter in Illinois. I hope he doesn't get arthritis, cuz I don't think he would do very well if his family were to dump him in a shelter!!
Anyways, the shelter is no place for an active girl like me, and the nice folks there knew that an older pup with mild arthritis had very little chance of being adopted, so they contacted SOS since they had worked with them before. I sure am glad that SOS knows that Senior Setterzens are super special!!
Although I am quite energetic, I do know how to behave inside, and am very quiet when I am supposed to be quiet. I have a trot/run that is unique due to the arthritis, and I have pictures of my hindquarters that proves that there is nothing more serious going on with my hips and legs.
I do have some growths underneath, and a biopsy indicated that there was nothing bad with the growths. SOS wants to make sure that I am in great shape for a new forever home, so they are going to send in more samples and do a full blood and chemistry panel - WOW! I told you that SOS knows that Senior Setterzens are super special!! Fostered by Cheryl & Doug in WI.

UPDATE 7/25/08: Yesterday, I went back to the vet to have the stitches and staples removed from the two surgeries I had and was given the all clear by the dog-ter. All the tests run on me show that the mammary mass they removed contained no cancer cells - just girlie tissue!! YIPPY!! Maybe that's why I was named ANGEL - cuz I have angels watching over me! Anyway, they tell me that since I don't have anything bad healthwise other than a touch of arthritis, that I'm ready for my forever home!
I know they spilled the beans on my age, but don't let that fool ya - I am very frisky and full of zest! I also have a good knowledge of the basic commands: sit, stay, and come (except when I am fixated on watching something outside - like birds! I heard that a lot of Irish Setters have Selective Hearing Disorder when birds are present). I do have a strong prey drive and love to stalk things. I don't know how I would get along with a cat, so maybe a home with no cats would be best. I get along with the others dogs here (both male and female) and will dance around them to get them to play. I have human kids(ages 8, 6 & 3) here to play with as well and love it when we have playtime! I play nicely with them (another reason I was named ANGEL?).
I am on the petite side and would make a wonderful snuggle buddy. I like to eat raw carrots and peanut butter for treats. Oh, I am kind of a wiggle worm and a bit of a talker, too, but what can I say? I'm Irish!!!
