Hi, my name is BENJAMAN, but they call me BIG BEN.  It's about time!!  I'm four and a half years old.  My mommy got sick and went to Rainbow Bridge, so here I am, waiting for a new family that will love me just as much as my mommy did!

I am a velcro dog and will follow my person wherever.  Hey, I just want to be part of everything.  I am trustworthy loose in the house and am happy either sleeping on or near my person's bed!  I would do best in a home without cats and with older children.  I'm not accustomed to small kids.

I love to go for car rides!  I know how to sit and am learning to shake hands.  I do listen to what I'm being told, and although I have the typical stubborn setter streak, I do want to please my person.

I am fine with other dogs (I have four girls here that keep me in line).  I've not shown any interest in jumping the fence, but since I'm tall, a tall fence would be best.

I do come when called, but could use some obedience work.  I like to play with toys, but am not possessive of them.  I love to go for walks, and will pull a little on the leash.

I am afraid of storms, and I do growl when being combed (I hate having my hair pulled - don't you?).  My hair is short cuz I had a lot of mats that had to be taken out.  I feel much better now!

If I really get scared, I will "mouth", but have not bitten my foster parents, although I've had plenty of opportunity.  I also growled at first when grabbed by the collar, but am much better now.  My foster mom says that, with patience and kindness and a bit of tough love, she believes I eventually will stop the growling.

My ideal home will be one that realizes that I am a wonderful guy who lost his best friend who just wants a permanent, warm, loving home with a person to call my very own for the rest of my sweet life.  My foster mom says I deserve no less!  Fostered by Cindy in AZ.
