Hello, my name is BRECKENRIDGE. I am about two years old and as you can see I am very handsome! I was diagnosed with IMHA (immune mediated hemolytic anemia). I am doing great, and am being weaned off of prednisone and Imuran, and my bloodwork looks wonderful.
I am a great dog, but need more than a one-bedroom apartment. With 2 other dogs and a cat, things have gotten a little crowded! My Mom says I deserve much more: a big yard to run in, a big house to play in, but no cats please! I love kids and other dogs. I have learned leash walking and other obedience training. I had some issues with separation anxiety, but that was overcome with a little behavior modification.
I am house trained, but cannot be crated. I have "cage wear" on all four of my canine teeth due to anxiously chewing at a metal crate. I do well in large runs at the animal hospital, though.
Although I am doing very well, my new family should be aware that there is a chance my IMHA could come back. My bloodwork should be monitored regularly throughout my life, and vaccines and medications such as antibiotics should be given cautiously - if at all, and not because I hate needles, either!
You would never know I had been so sick by looking at me, except for my shaved belly (for an ultrasound), and shaved front legs from the IV catheters. In CO.
