Hi, my name is CADEN and I'm about three years old. The dog-ter says that I appear to be in pretty good shape except for a few minor things. First, my ears are infected, but what rescue Setter doesn't have yucky ears? Next, I have a rather dramatic overbite. I don't care one bit about the overbite since I can eat just fine. Just ask my foster mom. She'll tell you what a good eater I am!!
The dog-ter also noticed some scarring on both of my eyes. I can see pretty well in spite of the scarring. The dog-ter is trying some drops in both of my eyes to see if he can clear them up a bit. If only my previous owner had cared enough to take me to the dog-ter when I first scratched them!!
Oh, and I still have the remnants of a respiratory infection. That will be cleared up the rest of the way in no time. My foster mom says that I have been a very good patient!!
Speaking of good, I am coming along very quickly in learning how to be a very nice house dog. I have already learned about being cuddled and petted, and also about life with chairs, humans, and soft beds! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
I have even learned not to chase the cats. How about that for being a smart boy!!
My foster mom says that I so happy-go-lucky, and will be a wonderful companion for the some fortunate family. I can hardly wait until they find me, so I can show them what a good boy I am!!

UPDATE 2-17-09: I guess I am doing pretty well now, as I don’t have to take any more medicine! YAAAYYY! I can see just fine, even though one eye looks a little bluish. The Dog-ter says it is fine and that my vision seems to be basically unaffected. DUH! I guess he hasn't heard that I can see birds, toys, and anything that moves every bit as well as any other Setter! If you wanna throw the ball for me, I'll prove it!!
I love to run, and run, and run, and also play chase and tug with my foster brother. After all that playing, my most favoritest thing in the whole world to do is to curl up in the recliner with my foster dad. I love my foster daddy! Mom is okay, and I like my grandma, too, but daddies are the best! I hope someday I get my very own!!!! I would love to have a nice yard with another dog to play with, and lots of toys, and breakfast and dinner, and a recliner with my own dad to sit with in the evenings! Oh, and I would like to go on long walks and meet other people who will makea fuss over me and give me lots of pettings! I guess I just want my own family and home. Foster care is way better than shelter life, but it isn’t like having a family of my very own.
I did make a mistake earlier at my foster home and I hurt one of the older cats. I swear I was just trying to play with her, but I guess I got too rough. I am very sorry, and since I have learned more about cats, I just leave them alone. Dogs are way more fun to play with anyway! I am much better, though - I promise! I live with some little dogs also that I think are called Min Pins. They are tiny and don’t seem to be much fun. I just ignore them. I like to play with other setters like me!
If you think you might be interested in loving me furever, please fill out on adoption application and tell SOS you would like to learn more about me! That’s spelled C A D E N- CADEN! That's with a “C”, just so you don’t forget…

CADEN’s foster mom writes: CADEN is a very good boy and we enjoy fostering him so very much! He is a quiet dog, not a lot of barking, but he does love to play chase with the other dogs, and he really likes toys. He would do best in a home with another dog, a fenced yard, (probably 5 feet high), and moderate activity such as walks and games.
He is a smaller setter, about 22 inches tall and he weighs about 40-45 pounds. He has the shorter coat of the field setter, but is growing in some nice feathering. Most of his feathers were cut off in the shelter as he was full of mats and burrs when he was brought in as a stray. He is a dark mahogany red color.
He does have a dramatic overbite, or undershot jaw, as it is called, but it doesn't present any difficulties. His teeth are fairly crooked, but are healthy and clean. He slurps when he gets a drink, and he has to have treats handed to him under his nose as that is where his bite is. He looks fine, and you can’t even tell he has this issue unless you hear him getting a drink, or you are looking right at the area where his upper and lower front teeth should match up. The Dog-ter says he does not foresee the underbite causing any difficulties for CADEN.
CADEN is just one of those special furkids that makes you smile to watch him having so much fun, and then steals your heart (and your spot on the sofa if given the chance - but he gives it back readily since your lap is more comfortable!!).
