Hi, my name is CANDY and I am about three years old.  I am a 41 pound Red Setter with a beautiful light red coat and shorter feathers to make brushing less of a chore.

My foster mom says that I am an excellent little girl, friendly to people and all other dogs (including small ones) while on the leash and at the dog park.  Like most Red Setters, I am very athletic and really fast. I can walk on my hind legs when I want to show off!

One time I started to chase a small dog, but that was at dusk and he was running rapidly around the side of the house. I may still be tempted in a similar situation if I thought it might be something other than a dog.  I love to chase birds and squirrels. Since I was bred to hunt, I have a great nose and good stamina. Although hunting cats was not in my genes, they are still small things that run from me, so I will give chase. I don't know what I'd do if I caught one, and no one at SOS wants to find out, so no cats for me!

I walk fairly well on the leash and know how to "heel". However, when I see something to chase, I will take off like a jack rabbit. If you're not paying attention and I catch you off-guard, I can escape, but I will eventually circle back to you.

When I first got here, I barked in the night, but I stopped when told to do so, and not a peep since. I am content to rest in a crate in the laundry room, with the door open or closed, when my foster family has to go out. Of course, when they are home, I really want to cuddle with my foster dad on the couch. I really like men.

I make a point of greeting each human and dog at the dog park, with no issues. At home, I am alpha to the other dog, but she is really submissive so no issues there, either. It's not clear whether I want to be alpha, or she doesn't want to be alpha.

My foster mom says that I am an excellent little girl. You wanna know something?  She's right!!
