Hi, my name is COLE and I'm about eighteen months old. My foster mom says that I reminded her of a sad clown when I first got here. I was pretty scared then, but I'm learning to trust. I've come a long way in a short time.
I was turned into the shelter because my former owner wanted a dog that would hunt. I'm not saying whether it was his fault or mine that I never really caught on, but I sure am glad he gave me up. Now I have an inside place to live and a gentle hand to help me learn the things I was never taught. It's hard to believe, but I was so scared at first that I nipped the lady with the gentle hands. She must've understood, cuz I didn't get in trouble.
My foster mom suspects that my former owner used a shock collar on me cuz I spook pretty easily. Because of this, she is thinking a quieter home would be best. Loud thunder is reeeely scary, and makes me yelp and cry.
I get along with the other dogs okay, but I can be a little bossy and sometimes they don't like that too much. Sometimes I will put up my hackles when I am meeting other dogs. Once I get to know them a little, we become buddies and play together very well. I like playing with the doggies closer to my own size.
I am housetrained and crate trained, and have only gotten into trouble a couple times since I got here. Paper and countertops are hard to resist! I've learned about toys and playing fetch with tennis balls (I actually bring it back for you to throw it again!). I like playing tug, too, but not as much as fetch! I do like to snuggle and I will give very sweet kisses to my new family after I have settled in some. I will fit in almost any size lap!!! Fostered in TN.
