Hi, my name is FINNEGAN, though my foster mom sometimes calls me "The Big Oaf", usually when she's laughing at me, but I know it isn't my real name. I'm two years old and about 73 pounds of huggable, lovable Irish setter!
I'm a sweet, silly, and happy boy! I like snuggling, belly rubs, chin scratches, napping on the couch or a dog bed, running around in the yard, playing ball, going for rides in the car, and eating. Don't let my foster mom tell you I'm not very coordinated when playing ball. I CAN run and carry a tennis ball in my mouth at the same time, I just pretend that I can't because it makes people laugh! I get along well with the other dogs and generally ignore the cats. I've been told that I should pay more attention to the cats because I've been guilty of accidentally stepping on them a time or two. Aren't cats supposed to be afraid of dogs? I prefer to sleep on the big bed at night (and have only rolled off once!), and will sometimes put myself to bed early to claim my spot but sometimes get kicked off anyway and sent to my crate next to the big bed. Something about my not believing in "personal space" and snoring. I've never heard myself snore! I'm told that I have good house manners and I know a few commands, but could always learn more.
I have a history of seizures and need to take a medicine called phenobarbital twice each day. I'm really good about taking my medicine if the pills are hidden in a Fig Newton! The medicine controls my seizures and must be working since I haven't had a seizure since I came into rescue in October 2008. My foster mom can tell you more. I don't feel different than any other dog and am proof that life can be good with a seizure disorder!
I'm looking for a home on the quieter side where I can be a big part of the family. I like spending most of my time with my family. If you fill out an application, are approved to adopt, and would be a good match for me, my foster mom will tell you all about me!
