We are getting along just fine with Ginger. She's every bit the sweetheart I anticipated. Her house manners are just great. She took to us and to our home as if she's been here her entire life. No nervousness or discomfort whatsoever. It's really amazing! She follows me around and sprawls out for a snooze wherever I happen to sit. She sleeps next to me at night on a fleece blanket which she prefers to the dog bed. She likes Ron a lot, too!
I've been walking her for potty breaks outside, but she's also had some excursions around the yard off lead. I suspect she has a highly developed sense of hunt and have no doubt now that she is completely field bred. She has a strange wheeze that is constant except during sleep, but she seems to feel good and her appetite is excellent. I spoke to my vet who happens to be a close friend and she'll be looking at her next week. Ginger tells me when she's hungry or wants to go out. She is very loving with us and we are quite pleased with her. I really think she was meant to be with us, and out of mutual need. It's hard to imagine that she was SO CLOSE to euthanasia. She's SO full of life and is so intelligent!
