JOEL's dad passed away, and JOEL was taken to the local shelter. Thanks in part to his microchip, he is now safely back with SOS! Below is his profile from 2007. We will update it once we learn more about him. He just had his seventh birthday in August. Hopefully, we'll get some new pictures soon!
Hello, my name is JOEL. I am three years old and am very sweet! I get along well with the other dogs, but don't like it when they get too rambunctious around me. I'm not mean or anything - just kind of let them know that they need to settle down a bit.
I am absolutely crazy about food... or anything I think might be food! My foster mom calls me SNARF because I am always sniffing around the crates in search of some kibble that needs eating. I think SNARF is an odd nickname. HOOVER would be my preference!
When I'm not playing vacuum cleaner, I like to laze around, but am always up for a good mouth-wrestling game with my doggy friends. I have discovered stuffies, and like to walk around with one in my mouth sometimes. It's okay if the other dogs try to steal it, as I have figured out how to play tug, too.
I walk funny due to misaligned knees and bowed lower legs. The terrific folks at SOS took me to see Dr. Todd Tobias, an orthopedic specialist. He said that I would not benefit from corrective surgery since the problem isn't causing me any difficulties now, and is not likely to cause problems in the future, either! What a relief!! The folks at SOS, just to be on the safe side, want me to go to a new forever home that is one story. I think they are nuts, but whatever. I do just fine with the steps to the porch. Fostered by Wendy in IL.
