Hi, my name is LILLY and I'm two years old. I must be a special girl. The people here keep telling me that I am so smart and pretty and sweet. I love to hear those nice words. I hadn’t heard them very much before coming to SOS and my foster family.
I want to run and play just like a redhead should, but I’ve not been sure that it is okay for me to do that. My foster family has been patient with me, and they are teaching me about lots of good stuff. I am a quick learner.
I had always been an outside dog before, but now I am learning to live as a member of the family. I must say that being an inside dog sure has its benefits! I only had one accident before learning to go outside for my business. I don’t ring the bell on the back door because it startles me, and I don’t like to go outside unless my foster sister SUE goes out first. As you can see, I got a haircut, but I asked them to show some pics of me with my full coat so you can see how pretty I will be when my hair grows back.
I like being a follower, going and doing things that the lead dog does. My foster dad says that I should go to a home with another dog that I can follow. I like other dogs as long as they lead and aren’t aggressive towards me. I don’t really care about cats (b-o-r-i-n-g!). If they hiss at me I just walk away. If they don’t hiss at me, I sniff them and then walk away.
I like people, especially when they talk nicely and quietly, and will let me sniff them before they try to touch me. If they are nice to me, I like for them to hold my head, rub my ears, and tell me what a sweet, special girl I am.
I like to take walks on the leash, but it is best if another doggie walks with me so that I can follow them. Walks with people are okay, but following behind a lead dog is the most fun. I need to have a safe spot like a crate to go to if things don’t feel totally safe. I no longer panic when something scary happens since I know I can go to my safe spot. I come out again after I am pretty sure that it is safe.
I like to play with stuffies, especially the ones with squeakers! I like to squeak them for a little while, then take all of the stuffing out and remove the squeaker. After that, I carry them around and shake my head with them in my mouth. I’m learning to play tug with my foster dad. He doesn’t tug hard, but he lets me tug as hard as I want. I’ve learned to play fetch with my foster grandpa. He plays very gently and we have lots of fun.
Do you have a safe, quiet home with a lead doggie and a safe spot for me? If so, I'll be ready to go in just a few weeks! Fostered by Mel & Jim in MI.
