Hi ! My name is LUCKY and I am about two years old. I was picked up as a stray and spent some time at the shelter in Cadillac, MI. Supposedly, my owner came to get me, but didn't bring the $35 needed to post my bail. He said he would be back with the money, but no one ever heard from him again. At least he told the shelter my name!
The dog-ter said I seemed to be in good shape other than being underweight. Everyone there said I was a really good dog, not to mention very smart, too. They fell in love with me. That’s understandable, ‘coz I’m very loveable and handsome, too. Don’t you agree?
I am a tall boy, 28 inches at the shoulders, and right now I weigh about 75 pounds. My foster mom says I need about ten more pounds. I am tall enough that I could jump the fence, but I don’t even try. I do like to run in the backyard and chase critters!
When I first came here, I wasn’t quite sure about how to play with toys or my foster sister, KATIE. I was more interested in the fact that she was a girl!! She put in my place right away, and continues to remind me when I forget. Since I’m pretty passive I back off quickly.
I have learned about squeaky toys, rawhide chews, pigs ears (mmmmm good!!!), and mouth wrestling with my foster sister. There are no cats here so we don’t know about that.
KATIE and I have to guard the house when foster mom goes to work, so we have free reign and I haven’t had any accidents or chewed anything I wasn’t suppose to. At night, I sleep on a big dog bed next to mom's bed and I stay there all night. I would really like to sleep on her bed with KATIE, but KATIE “put her paw down” on that one and said no way! KATIE is the queen, and I’m learning to have a lot of respect for that. Other than that, we get along very well. We share toys, treats, pillows, and even the couch with mom so we both get snuggle time. I love to snuggle!! Even though I’m big, I can curl up really small.
I know how to sit, stay, and come when called. We are working on “loose leash” training ‘coz I can pull when I see something I really want. I am very treat oriented, which I am learning to take very gently. I do have a lot of energy and I love to run and explore. Every night we get to go for long walks in the woods to get our exercise.
