Hi, my name is LUCY and I'm eight years old. I really don't know why I'm here.  They say that my mom and dad stopped getting along, and that my mom had to move and she couldn't take me with her.

I went to the dog-ter, and she wasn't very happy with my test results.  Rumor has it that I have to go back for pictures of my insides, more tests, and then some surgery.  That doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun to me.

My teeth are pretty yucky, but that's not a big deal compared with everything else that is going on with me.  Anyway, we'll know more soon, so check back!

My foster mom says I am super sweet.  I've been showing her what a good girl I am and what a nice smile I have!  She says I'll be really pretty again, too, once they get my skin and coat issues fixed.

UPDATE 1-16-09: Boy, were they right when they mentioned that I would be returning to the vet's office for more testing and surgery!! All the tests that were done for me came back great, so I was able to proceed on the dental and then the removal of the mass on my right shoulder.  My teeth had a lot of tarter, but they didn't have to pull any!  Now my breath smells much better and I can try and give kisses without knocking my foster family over with my breath, and my food tastes much better, too!

The mass removal went fine as well, and I was back up and about, acting like nothing ever happened (I'm suppose to rest and be calm for 14 days while I heal - someone forgot to tell the vet that I'm an Irish Setter!!). If I get a little too active, the resident redhead tattles on me sometimes.  What's a girl to do?

My foster family was happy when my results from the mass removal come in as a benign trichoepithelioma.  I have been given the "all-clear" to begin looking for my forever family.

I love attention, and like to be petted and loved on.  It takes me a little while to get use to new things, but I do adjust just fine with time.  I hang out with the resident dogs (male and female), and while I am okay with them, I am unsure of the more active dogs and don't really want anything to do with them.  I would prefer to be an only dog so that I can have all the attention to myself, but might be okay with a less active buddy.

I love to go for car rides and will sit in the co-pilot seat just as nice as can be (although I did try once to help my foster mom drive and she didn't see the humor in having all 82 pounds of little ol' me on her lap between her and the steering wheel - lucky for us we were parked at the time!)  I do fine with the kids (9, 7, & 3 year olds), and I do give kisses - especially to the youngest since he is the perfect height for kissing.  I am food motivated and love treats.  I've been working on trying to take the treats gently from fingers.  I still need some more practice on this.  I do pull on the leash and will need some continued work on that, so obedience classes won't be a bad idea.  I could also stand to lose some more weight.  My coat is recovering, though surgery didn't help that at all.  I have done well in the house so far with no accidents, and I will crate up when asked with no problems.

Thanks for looking-LUCY
