These six beautiful furkids were confiscated by the Missouri Department of Agriculture from a breeding operation near Kansas City. Two weeks after they were confiscated, the four girls' weights ranged from 25 to 32 pounds. Needless to say, they gained weight during those two weeks, so you can imagine what they weighed coming from the breeder!
We have very little history on these precious little ones, but do know that the 5 older ones were trucked down to Canton TX at the age of 14 weeks for a "swap meet" (nice term for a flea market where primarily dogs are sold). The younger boy was apparently spared this experience.
In spite of the situation from which they were rescued, they are all friendly and somewhat socialized. They are timid and submissive, but warm up quickly, even seeking out human affection.
Because of their background, they are not suitable for hunting. Each is being assessed as to suitability for one dog households, as some do best as only dogs while other need the companionship of another dog to help build confidence. Adopters must be patient, and must commit to working with the dog to build confidence as well as to assist the dog in further acclimation to living indoors. Socialization exercises to introduce them to new sights, sounds, and smells are highly recommended, as are trips to places where dog-friendly people are available to provide exposure to strangers. There is only so much we can do in a few short weeks, and they have a lot yet to learn!
Fostered in various locations.
