Hi my name is MAJESTIC (MAC for short), and as you can see I'm a handsome four year old Irish lad. I am pretty confused, cuz I had an owner who loved me very much. They said that my dad had to go to the nursing home because of his health and he couldn't take care of me anymore. I hope the other dogs got to a safe place, too.
I was very nervous to leave my home of four years, and come to a home where everything was different, strange, and new for me. I was scared of almost everything at first, and the least little noise would make me jump. I was even too scared to go outside to potty in the dark!!
Thankfully, my foster family has been very understanding, and they have continued to work with me to show me that I don't have to be afraid. The first couple of weeks, I stuck very close to my foster mom, especially when going outside. I didn't even feel like looking around much (or even going potty until very necessary). Of course, I had a few accidents in my crate during this adjustment period, but I'm happy to report that I haven't had any accidents for some time now. I go potty outside and I actually explore the outside now, just like a dog should do! I'm even brave enough to the end of the flexi to check things out, and wait patiently for my foster people to catch up (they are a lot older than I am).
I have been hanging out with the humans kids (ages 8, 6, & 3) at lot more since I got brave. I must admit that, at first, they were scary to me because they moved fast, but I have come to look forward to their attention as well and all the extra pets and love they give me.
I am not much into playing with toys or running around a lot (my foster family says that I would make a good weight to hold down the couch, or a terrific foot warmer for those times I prefer to lay on the floor). I enjoy long leisurely walks and I am a gentleman when it comes to walking on the leash - I don't pull at all (Honest! Ask my foster family). I have been around the other dogs here and, other than to sniff at them, I don't pay much attention to them at this point. I'm just a very quiet, calm, and well-behaved Irishman. I know, I know - younger Setters like me are supposed to be wild and crazy, but I just felt like being different!
On the medical front, I did have a seizure towards the end of September. I am being monitored to see how far apart the seizures are, assuming I have another one. If I do, SOS will have the Dog-ter run some tests to see if it is caused by something else, like thyroid deficiency. Pending the outcome of the testing, I could require meds daily.
I am a lovable and huggable 82 pounds, and would love to have a family of my own again - a family that appreciates just how wonderful a companion I am!!! If you are laid back, too, and would like a couch buddy, I may be the one for you!!
