Hi, my name is PANAMA RED, but my friends call me RED. I'm four years old, and was purchased from a pet store in the Denver area as a puppy, which means I most likely came from a puppymill.
All-in-all, I've had a pretty good life - that is, until recently. My dad was given some show Irish Setters, and one of them (the boy that is close to having his second birthday) now has hormones. That happens when males are not neutered. Mind you, not all intact males are vicious, but this boy has more than proven that he should never be bred.
Anyway, he had gotten vicious with me. That is why I was turned into rescue. While I find it odd that I was the one to lose my home considering I was the victim, I am happy that I don't have to be afraid anymore. I am concerned for the safety of the other redheads still living in my former home, though, so please keep your paws crossed that the breeder will do the right thing and allow vicious dog to be neutered before anyone else gets hurt... or worse.
As you can see, I got pretty torn up on my neck. The vet says the larger wound on my throat is three inches deep and infected, so I have a drain tube to help get the infection out. I'll be good as new in a few weeks!!
I get along with other dogs (as long as they don't act like they are going to attack me), and am fine with kids and cats, too. I also enjoy lots and lots of toys!! I'd be fine as an only dog, too!

This infected puncture wound is under the right ear flap.
Though difficult to see, this is a flap of skin that, when raised, shows a pocket large enough for a finger to be inserted, and runs about three inches deep. It is infected, and required a drain tube to be surgically inserted.
These lacerations are on the back of the neck. The picture below (before I was cleaned up) shows that they have been oozing, and that the hair had formed a solid mat over the wounds.
