Hi, my name is PEPPER and I'm about eleven years young. Here's what my foster mom wrote to SOS about a week after I arrived:

I want you to find this dog the best home ever because she deserves it.  She is sweet, and loves to play both with the other dogs and with us.  She has a lot of energy for her age.

She will sleep on the bed unless you tell her to get down. She normally stays on her side or at the foot of the bed.  She will be a lap dog if you invite her onto the chair with you and yes, she will use you as her cushion.

She is good around Mom with her walker, and she never tries to jump on anyone. She has never had any accidents in the house.

She can be a little shy, but if you get down to her level, she comes to you.  She lays her head on the arm of the chair for petting.  She will get next to an occupied chair, and will sit there with her head up as if to say, "Pet me!! Pet me!!"

She is very smart and catches on quickly.   Lest you think she is perfect, PEPPER did get into just a wee bit of Irish mischief. One morning, Mom called for help from her bed. PEPPER was sleeping in bed with Mom, and Mom was trying to get out but couldn't. Later, when Mom tried to get back in bed, PEPPER had taken over the bed. Mom couldn't get back in and was standing there asking for help again. We were laughing about the dog running the little old lady out of her bed.  If it had been me, I would have taken the walker and shook it at PEPPER and told her to move, but my docile mom would never get pushy.

Regarding her medical, she is in pretty good shape now. We are still working on the foot, but it looks much better.  The vet wanted to rule out cancer on her foot, and so did we, so a biopsy was done. The report said no cancer cells - YAAAAAAYYYYY! A picture of how her foot looked when we first got her is below.  No wonder she was confiscated by the local authorities for neglect!  Fostered by Ellie in IL.
