Hi, my name is REBEL and I'm about ten months old. I'm pretty typical for an untrained Irish Setter youngster - bouncing off the walls and stuff. I would benefit from formal obedience training.

I get along well with other dogs and am fine with older kids, too. I find horses to be quite intriguing, and have been known to jump the 5+ foot fence in order to gain a closer look. I've not shown as keen an interest in cats, but that could be because my focus is on the horses. I'm crazy around goats, too, so let's just say no cats and no livestock!

I have a lot of puppy in me still, and have been called "naive", whatever that means. All I know is that chasing the flashlight beam is fun, even if I never can seem to catch it. My foster mom says I'm a goof. Whatever...

I am learning to not jump up on people and to not be quite so mouthy with them. Sometimes I forget, though, and need a gentle reminder. My ideal home is one that is used to high energy Irish Setters. Another dog in the house is a must, as I neeed an active playmate. I do tend to cry and whine if separated from the other dogs. On the plus side, I only bark when appropriate!

I'm working on housetraining. Having been an intact outside dog didn't allow me to learn at an early age that inside is for living and outside is for marking and pottying. I do just fine in the crate, so I will figure things out pretty soon now that I am neutered.

I am fairly birdy, always sniffing the air and checking things out. My paw even comes up. I walk fine on leash as long as there is nothing to chase. I know how to sit very well for a treat or putting on the leash, but my Selective Hearing Disorder kicks in at all other times. I need lots of work on other basic commands. 'No' gets you a look like the computer is working  slowly.

Countersurfing is in my vocabulary. I will grab just about anything that is near the edge, without jumping up. If something steakish was left unattended, he would likely jump up to get it. That's just an assumption so far, as I've not been given the opportunity, darn it!

I ride well in the car. Sometimes I want to help drive, but mostly I like to stare at the radio. I am intrigued by these new-fangled things that make noise. The TV is pretty interesting, too.

I am learning about toys. Tug is a pretty cool game! I love kids, too! During those rare moments when I am being still, I love to cuddle. I'm okay with food and toys being taken away. I did test positive for Lyme Disease, and have been treated. Fostered by MaryAnn in VA.
