Hi, my name is RILEY and I'm seven years old. I'm a BIG boy, but am a gentle giant most of the time. I am very good about going into my crate, and I am gentle when taking peanut butter off a finger. Solid treats are a little different, and I don't always have the best aim, so it's best to feed me solid treats that are larger, and give me the smaller ones from the palm of your hand rather than your fingers.
I have very good house manners, though I am food motivated, and stealing food from the table or counters is within the realm of possibility. I am okay with other dogs, though I am not too interested in playing with them. I am not quite so good with cats, so a home without cats would be best for them!
I am very interested in playing with big people, and tug is great fun! If you throw the tug toy, I almost always bring it back. I will patiently wait for you to grab the other end so we can play some more. My foster mom suggests gloves for the humans, cuz I don't always have the best aim playing tug, either. I also like stuffies!!
When I first arrived, I didn't want anyone touching my ears, and I would snap at anyone that tried. I've come a long way since then, and actually enjoy ear rubs! In fact, I enjoy lots of attention (I do have some ticklish spots). Chin scratches and belly rubs are my favorite! I sometimes will give sweet kisses, too!
As I said earlier, I am quite large and don't have the softest mouth in the world. I also dislike anything being put in my ears, and tense up in a defensive posture whenever I see a bottle that looks like it may contain ear cleaner or ear meds. For these reasons, I will only be allowed to go to a home with adults and possibly older kids who can recognize when I tense up, and will give me latitude. Younger kids won't understand that I cannot differentiate between a bottle of ear cleaner and a bottle of blowing bubbles. Fostered by Alissa in TN.
