Hi, my name is RUSTY MAGEE, but I answer to MAGEE. The vet thinks I'm about three years old. I was in a shelter in UT, though it's not really clear how I got there. Maybe my owner turned me in, or maybe I was taken away from my owner. Regardless, I was sure glad to leave that place.

When I came to rescue, I was so horribly matted that I couldn't move my rear legs enough to go faster than a slow trot, and I couldn't lift my tail at all to wag it. You can see for yourself what I looked like when first pulled from the shelter. I was reported to have been kept on a chain with no shelter at my previous home, which is how my coat got in such bad condition. The SOS folks are guessing that I had another home before that, where I was treated as an Irish Setter should be treated!

If ever there was a perfect Irish Setter, I would be it! I love to do whatever my human is doing. I love to go, love to stay, love to run, and love to cuddle! I stay fairly close by when off leash at the dog park. I always want to be near my human, and will run like the wind to get to her when called. I once lost track of where she was, and I was frantically looking for her. Thank goodness she kept calling my name until I spotted her!

I have impeccable manners. I wait for my human to say "okay" before I will eat, and I have a very gentle mouth when taking treats. I rarely jump on people, and won't get on the furniture even when invited.

I love to play with the soft soccer ball and rope toys, and I really like playing catch-and-return inside. I prefer to sleep in the same room with my human, and will cry softly for awhile if I am asked to sleep in another room, even if I have another dog in there with me. When I've been left alone in house with another dog while my human is at work, I have behaved perfectly -no accidents, no barking, and no damage. If left outside for what I feel is too long, I will bark to remindmy human that I am ready to come back inside.

I get along fine with other dogs, and am even okay with the resident cat. I've not been around kids at my foster home, but I should do okay with them as well. I walk very well on lead, and have not tested the six foot privacy fence. Fostered by Judy in CO.
