Hi, my name is RYLEIGH.  I am a one year old AKC registered Irish Setter.  My last owner said he asked my breeder, Roselle Smyth, to take me back but for some reason, I wound up in rescue instead of going back to my breeder.

I am currently being fostered by a really nice family - a Mom and a Dad, two big boys, and two dogs.  I'm having a wonderful time at my foster house, because there is an oversized doggie door that leads out to a 3/4 acre fenced-in yard.  That means I get to run and play with my new friends FERGUS and SADIE (both Irish Setters), and I can go to the bathroom anytime I want to.

I'm a really friendly dog and would love an owner who will take me for long walks preferably in the woods, away from traffic and other distractions.  I will search out my stuffed toy duck on command.  I attended obedience school, and know basic commands.  I haven't met any small children yet, so I'm not sure how we will get along.  I think I would be happier with older children (12+) and adults.

I am a very happy dog!  Because I act like a puppy sometimes, I look goofy.  For example, I am a really sloppy drinker, and I tend to put my whole snout under the water (maybe I should try scuba diving)!

My last owner says he bought me when I was almost six months old, and that I had some behavior issues.  I got kicked out of Doggy Daycare for nipping.  I had doggy behaviorists come work with me, and even went to bootcamp for two weeks.  The behaviorists felt that my problems were most likely due to lack of socialization and training as a young pup.

Since I have been in my foster home, I have been very good. My foster family gives me lots of love and attention and I thrive on positive attention.  Also, I get lots of exercise, and that almost always helps with behavior issues with us active youngsters!  Fostered by Eileen in MA.
