Hi, my name is SHARA and I'm about one year old. I had not had the best life in my first year on this planet.  The folks at the shelter knew I didn't stand much chance of being adopted since I had heartworms, had previously had a leg amputated (thank goodness I had four to start with!), and all ten of the pups I had in the shelter died.  I was very sad and lonely.

It was a pretty miserable ride from Alabama to Tennessee.  I don't like riding in cars, so I drool alot then get sick.  I was too scared to potty when we stopped, and...  well, you know.  Add to that the wonderful scent from the shelter that permeated my body, and you have a recipe for driving with the windows rolled down and the heater on full blast.  My foster mom did stop at a clinic to get me a bath, but it was pretty late and the clinic was about to close for the day.  I think that was shortly after she lost her cappucino due to the stench, which added another scent to the mix.

I wasn't sad for very long once I we got to my foster home.  The first item on the agenda was a potty break, and the second was a bath.  I didn't mind the bath too much, as I couldn't stand the smell, either.  More baths followed later, and I now smell much better!  I went through heartworm treatment so that is now behind me.  I will be spayed very soon, and will be all ready to go after that!

In the meantime, I've learned all kinds of neat things.  I can do stairs easily, and am hoping to perfect the fine art of counter-surfing.  I've learned that stuffies and balls are great fun, and that all the blankets, rugs, and towels in and around the crates will all fit on top of the futon which makes for a very fluffy bed!  I've also learned about being crated with no fuss.

I've learned that we don't get to beg at the table when the humans are eating, and after dinner is when we all get a little scrap of something yummy.  I've learned to gently take treats from my human.  I've learned to be quiet when I am told to do so.  Best of all, I've learned what it means to be a part of the family, living indoors, playing together nicely, sleeping on the big bed, and getting lots of lovins!  Fostered by Alissa in TN.
