Hello, there! My name is TRISTAN, and I am about eleven months old. As you can see, I am very cute! When I lived in Alabama, I got run over, and will need my bad leg taken off so I can get around better. Right now, I have a nasty sinus infection, so I have to wait on the surgery until after I am well.
The nice folks at Save Our Setters want to make me all better, but really need your help. Please send them a few dollars for me!! More info coming soon!
UPDATE: TRISTAN now has a cute little mitten to wear on his foot, and has started physical therapy. The doc believes there is a good chance that he will be able to recover a fair amount of use of the leg. Keep your paws crossed for TRISTAN that his sciatic nerve responds well enough to the therapy to keep the leg!! Fostered by Alissa in TN.
UPDATE: In spite of physical therapy and increased muscle tone, the sciatic nerve was not improving, and the proprioception deficiency was continuing to be a hindrance to TRISTAN. Both vets recommended surgical intervention, as enough time had elapsed for regeneration to occur. TRISTAN is now healing from the amputation, and is fully mobile, though he is having some trouble climbing stairs at this time.
