Hi, my name is VAGABOND, but they call be BOND - you know, like that James guy. I am every bit as stealth as he is!!

I'm about one year old. I'm yet another one that didn't sell as a puppy, and the backyard breeder in Missouri wound up with too many dogs for which to provide food, water, and shelter (envision all SOS volunteers shaking their heads when they receive reports of other Missouri backyard breeders who buy their "quality" breeding stock at dog auctions, commercial breeders (a.k.a. puppymills), and other backyard breeders planning to breed multiple litters in April, May, and beyond).

I get along well with other dogs as long as everyone is spayed or neutered.  I am too scared to be considered for a home with children of any age or even very active adults, as I need a calm, quiet environment.   I've not yet been tested with cats.

I am taking a long time to settle in, being so scared of humans and all, but I really do like being indoors.  I will actually walk (okay, half walk/half crawl) through the doorway, and will sometimes walk on leash.  That's a big improvement over having to be dragged or carried everywhere when I first got here, since I was too afraid to move.  In fact, I was so scared that I wouldn't even get up to go potty.  After experiencing the torture known as "bath", I decided getting up to potty wasn't quite so scary after all.

Speaking of torture, I have also experienced an ear cleaning and a nail trim.  I was afraid of being hurt on the nail trim, and a gently put my mouth on my foster mom's arm to let her know.  She was soooo happy that I did that, as it was only a couple weeks ago that I was so scared that I was trying to bite her to get away.  I really have come a long way!!!

My foster mom says we still have a lot of room for improvement, and it will be a long time before I will be ready to go to a new forever home.  Do you see me trying to hide?

Fostered by Alissa in TN.
